Program Overview:

School, camp, and sports physical health exams are required to register for school for all new students attending a Virginia Public School or childcare, and to participate in camp, sports, or extracurricular programs and activities. Moving Health is leading healthcare for underprivileged children ages 3-17 years old by providing health physical exams at no cost, and by providing resources onsite to aid with continuous access to medical support.

Program Overview:

The Coastal Virginia region is home to over 1.6 million people with adults and families with various medical conditions that lack of access to basic healthcare. This population is made up of veterans, homeless, and uninsured citizens. Moving Health providing primary family practice medical care to adults and families at no cost, and by providing resources onsite to aid with continuous access to medical support.

2019 PROGRAM SCHEDULE

  • SOCIAL CARE - Jan 23, 2019 
     

    • Project Homeless Connect 25 at the Norfolk Scope

    • Promethean Group was able to offer medical care and services onsite to 400 attendees that consisted of adults and families in Norfolk and Hampton Roads. This accomplishment was the first time the National Initiative was able to offer medical care and services onsite to attendees at no cost.

    • Beach Fellowship Church in Virginia Beach 

    • Promethean Group was able to provide primary medical care and resource services at no cost to 25 attendees which consisted of adults and families.
       

  • SOCIAL CARE - Feb 23, 2019
     

    • Beach Fellowship Church in Virginia Beach 

    • Promethean Group was able to provide primary medical care and resource services at no cost to 30 attendees which consisted of adults and families.

  • YOUTH CARE - May 6, 2019
     

    • Virginia Beach Public Schools (VBPS) 

    • Promethean Group was able to provide school physicals at no cost at Kings Grant Elementary to 25 students, ages 4 to 17 years old so they may be registered and attend school for the 2019-2020 school year.
       

  • YOUTH CARE - May 23, 2019
     

    • ForKids 

    • Promethean Group was able to provide camp physicals for summer camp at no cost to 42 children, ages 3 to 17 years old so they may participate in summer camp and activities for Summer of 2019.
       

  • SOCIAL CARE - June 6, 2019
     

    • Beach Fellowship Church in Virginia Beach 

    • Promethean Group was able to train staff and simulate a clinic to provide primary medical care and resource services at no cost to 20-40 attendees consisting of adults and families from multiple areas of Hampton Roads. This clinic simulation was able to be recorded and featured in a Hometown Heroes episode for release July 7, 2019.

Approved Recipient Organizations: 
 

Project Homeless Connect 25 at the Norfolk Scope is an event part of the National Initiative to End Homelessness. The homeless that attend have multiple medical conditions that are untreated due to lack of access to care.


Beach Fellowship Church in Virginia Beach is a frequent meeting place for homeless attendees to be able to enjoy a meal. The homeless that attend have multiple medical conditions that are untreated due to lack of access to care.

 

Virginia Beach Public Schools (VBPS) is an Educational Partner with Promethean Group and has multiple families who currently do not have access to and/or face multiple barriers wellness or medical care. The school physical health exam is required to register for school for all Kindergarteners and for all new students attending VBPS. 
 

ForKids is a nonprofit organization that provides support and activities for children of homeless families. The children are required to complete a camp physical health exam prior to summer camps offered through ForKids. Many children currently do not have access to and/or face multiple barriers wellness or medical care. 
 

Reck League is a nonprofit organization that provides support to underprivileged youth in the most challenging neighborhoods in Norfolk. The children are required to complete a health exam prior to school registration or to participate in sports. Many children currently do not have access and/or face multiple barriers to wellness or medical care. 
 


Buffalo Friends and Family is a nonprofit organization that provides support and activities for underprivileged children in the Chesapeake, South Norfolk, and Portsmouth areas. The children are required to complete a health exam prior to school registration or to participate in sports. Many children currently do not have access and/or face multiple barriers to wellness or medical care. 

ONE-TIME DONATIONS

It doesn't matter if you're an official Moving Health member or non-member, you can still make a onetime donation. One-Time donations go toward the development of our programs and increases the amount of people we can service at one or multiple free medical clinic events.

ABOUT US

Moving Health is a division of the Promethean Group which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in June 2017, forged to provide health care for all. We are a volunteer and student run mobile primary medical care clinic that strives to provide comprehensive and supportive care to our community. 

 

We work in collaboration with other professionals and specialties to provide a holistic experience for populations in need. Although our focus is Family Practice Primary Care, we aim in providing those in need with all levels of health and well-being through the collaboration of multiple specialties and professions within the community.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Moving Health was founded by Dr. Ameanthea Blanco-Knezovich, DNP, FNP-C, CNE (Dr. BK). Dr. BK established the first nurse practitioner managed and owned set fee primary medical practice in the Virginia Beach, VA area. She continues to be a consultant with many companies to establish NP managed clinics in the Coastal Virginia area. She has been a medical director and senior clinician for multiple clinics and developed protocols for daily clinic operations. Dr. BK is the Founder and Executive Director for Promethean Group, a primary medical care clinic that services the homeless and peoples in need in Southeastern Virginia. Dr. BK also serves as the Program Director for South University’s MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Program in Virginia Beach and serves as a mentor and preceptor for multiple universities for DNP Programs. 

Dr. BK is licensed in the state of Virginia by the Board of Medicine and Board of Nursing to practice as a Family Practitioner, with a current Authorization to Prescribe medications in the state of Virginia.
